Project GROUND-REACH
Reaching the Kyoto targets by means of a wide introduction of ground coupled heat pumps (GCHP) in the built environment (Rround-Reach)
The project started on 01.01.2006 and finished successful on 31.12.2008. 21 partners toke part in this project and coordinator was the Greek Agency for renewable energy sources – CRES.
The project is financed 40% from the European Commission through the program “Intelligent Energy for Europe” and 60% from the Energy Efficiency Agency budget.
The main topic on the GROUND-REACH project is to effectively assist in implementing EU policy for both short and long term market penetration of ground source heat pumps, through analysing the market for ground source heat pumps and providing best practices, guidelines for local/regional authorities and key professional groups, conferences, meetings, website, brochure and other promotional tools.
It will facilitate: A better understanding of ground source heat pumps’ merits and benefits and their importance in fulfilling Community policy objectives in relation to Kyoto targets and the building performance directive. An increased awareness, improved knowledge and perception of ground source heat pumps technology among key European professional groups for short-term market penetration.
Main project activities:
- Preparation and distribution a questionnaire to heat pumps producer and user and collecting data, in order to prepare analysis regarding the potential on the installed heat pumps in Bulgaria.
- Preparation on analysis and recommendations to the legislation in the field of usage on geothermal energy
- Preparation on analyze for the existing building stock
On 23 April 2007 the GROUND-REACH promotion meeting of Bulgaria was organized successfully in Sofia. 35 participants were present including decision makers from the Ministry of Economy and Energy, consultants, local suppliers and manufacturers, representatives of higher and technical education, journalists and others. Fulfillment on questionnaire regarding the barriers for heat pumps and sending it to Ecofys. Translation, adaptation, printing and dissemination on informational brochure for heat pumps in 1 000 copies. Printing and dissemination on an informational poster for heat pumps. Presentation on the project results at conferences and seminars as good practice example.
The Ground-Reach project was successfully finalized on 31.12.2008 and was approved by the European Commission in 2009.
